Dear COTC,
Family is a huge part of how my time is spent and this year has been
especially focused in this direction. My elderly mother lives with us and I
am her caregiver. This can be quite challenging because of her various
infirmities. However, she is an ongoing example of sweetness and gratitude.
The situation and relationship teaches me daily.
Our biggest family event this year was the wedding of our daughter in May.
She and her husband decided on a small wedding by a lovely waterfall in the
Finger Lakes area of New York. It was a joy for me to officiate at this and
design a ceremony that allowed all the parents to participate. This was one
of four weddings I officiated this year. The only other formal ministerial
ritual was a baby blessing during the summer.
Most of my work continues to be spiritual/psychic/transpersonal one-on-one
sessions. I still facilitate a monthly meditation group.
Reiki has become a more and more useful tool both in my personal and
professional life. In June I was blessed with a trip to Great Britain to
receive the Karuna Reiki Master/Teacher training and attunement in
Glastonbury and Stonehenge. This had been a dream for years.
The time spent abroad was also invaluable in the ancestral/tribal
transgenerational family healing I've been working on for quite a while.
Included was a meeting with a cousin I'd never met. This generated greater
understanding of our family system. All of this in turn, is providing
additional perspectives in my work with others.
Artmaking has proven to be a greater part of my ministry also. Every piece 1
do is spiritually themed. Sometimes the infusion is obvious to the viewer;
sometimes it is not. But, people are finding the work both fascinating and
intense. It can also lead to some very interesting conversations.
The older I get and the longer I'm a minister the more I'm aware of what
I've always believed and what pulled me to COTC in the first place. That is,
the ministry is a way of life. It is a constant. I can do "minister things"
in an official way but the true value of this sacred charge is the deepening
of the spiritually focused lifestyle. The commitment of love heralded by our
church is what is really important. I'm grateful to COTC National for being
the hub of a circle that allows all of us ministers to go into our
communities and freely explore the boundlessness of Spirit in our own ways.
This is an immense and sacred gift.
Enclosed is my annual renewal fee plus an additional donation for the legal
fund. Blessings to you all. May your new year be joyous.
Thank you again.
